News — The EDB Fund for Digital Initiatives

Sergey Ignatov, Senior Managing Director at the Eurasian Development Bank (EDB), participated in the 3rd Eurasian Economic Forum, currently being held in Yerevan to commemorate the 10th anniversary of the signing of the Treaty on the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU). The event brought together representatives from large, medium and small businesses, international organisations, as well as research and educational institutions interested in fostering cooperation across the Eurasian region.

The first meeting of the Coordination Council of Partners for the Development of the Water Sector, hosted by Kazakhstan’s Ministry of Water Resources and Irrigation with support from the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), took place on 30 September 2024 in Astana.

As of 30 September 2024, the “Work in the EAEU” mobile app, developed by the Eurasian Development Bank’s (EDB) Fund for Digital Initiatives, has launched public and commercial services for migrant workers in Tajikistan. This enables individuals seeking employment in Tajikistan to access the necessary services directly from their smartphones.

Nikolai Podguzov, Chairman of the Management Board at the Eurasian Development Bank (EDB), spoke at the Annual Meeting of the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB) in Samarkand during the session titled New Uzbekistan – Big Country with Big Opportunities. The session was attended by Laziz Kudratov, Uzbekistan’s Minister of Investment, Industry and Trade, and Jin Liqun, President of AIIB. In his presentation, Nikolai Podguzov emphasised Uzbekistan’s important and growing role as one of the region’s largest economies and stressed the need for cooperation among multilateral development banks (MDBs) to effectively use resources and address global and regional challenges.

The Eurasian Development Bank (EDB), the United Nations World Food Program (UN WFP) and the “Yeremyan Projects” Group have officially launched their joint initiative, “Milk to Schools” project in Yerevan and Lori, marking the World School Milk Day.

Stanislav Chuyev, Senior Analyst at the Centre for Sector Analysis, Directorate of Research, Eurasian Development Bank (EDB), presented at the Asia Grains&Oils Conference 2024 in Tashkent. His presentation focused on Uzbekistan’s current macroeconomic situation, food security and agro-industrial potential.

The Eurasian Development Bank (EDB) and the FONPLATA Development Bank (FONPLATA) have jointly published a T20 policy paper titled “One Size Does Not Fit All – Analyzing the Applicability of Options for Expanding Lending Capacity Across MDBs”. T20 is a major G20 engagement group that brings together think tanks and research centers from G20 members and organizations.

Sevak Sarukhanyan, Director of the Directorate of Digital Initiatives at the Eurasian Development Bank (EDB), presented the Fund for Digital Initiatives’ capabilities in financing and supporting digital logistics projects at the 14th International Transport and Logistics 2024 Forum in Minsk. He highlighted the EDB’s strategic priority of developing a digital transport corridor in Eurasia.

The Eurasian Development Bank (EDB) participated in the 6th Kyrgyz-Russian Economic Forum, held on 11–12 September 2024 in the Issyk-Kul Region, Kyrgyz Republic. The event was attended by Denis Ilin, EDB Senior Managing Director, and Azamat Tyuleubai, Managing Director of the Bank’s Directorate of Energy. At the forum, the EDB and the Russian-Kyrgyz Development Fund (RKDF) signed an agreement on investment projects and a memorandum on establishing a waste management system under a public-private partnership involving the Bank, Kyrgyzstan’s Ministry of Natural Resources, RKDF and the Taza Alliance Group of Companies.
