The Eurasian Development Bank (EDB) and the Ministry of Economy and Commerce of the Kyrgyz Republic have signed a technical assistance agreement to develop a pre-feasibility study for the Suusamyr-Kokomeren HPP Cascade Project. This agreement builds on the ongoing cooperation between the Bank and the Ministry under the Memorandum of Cooperation signed in December 2024

A delegation of the Eurasian Development Bank (EDB) met with representatives of the International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA) at the IRENA headquarters in Abu Dhabi. During the meeting, the organizations discussed cooperation in the development of renewable energy in Central Asia within the framework of two platforms – IRENA Climate Investment Platform (CIP) and IRENA Energy Transition Accelerator Financing Platform (ETAF).

The Eurasian Development Bank (EDB) has successfully placed three-year bonds worth KZT 50 billion (over US $100 million) on the Kazakhstan Stock Exchange (KASE). The bonds carry a floating coupon rate linked to the base rate of the National Bank of Kazakhstan and will finance the modernisation of Almaty CHPP-3. This project marks a significant step towards enhancing Almaty’s energy infrastructure and improving its environmental conditions

The Eurasian Development Bank (EDB) continues to implement its technical assistance project aimed at strengthening the public-private partnership (PPP) institutional framework and building PPP competencies in Armenia, in collaboration with Russian-Armenian University (RAU). The two institutions have presented a joint country profile titled Development of Public-Private Partnerships in the Republic of Armenia: Key Stages and Prospects. This is the first PPP analysis of Armenia, examining the current and future role of PPPs in the country’s infrastructure development. The document also evaluates the level of PPP advancement in Armenia and provides an overview of the related legal and institutional frameworks, as well as financing and risk management instruments applied in PPP projects

The water resources of the transboundary Irtysh River basin are becoming increasingly important for China, Kazakhstan and Russia. High economic growth and a growing population in the basin are boosting the demand for water. The Eurasian Development Bank’s new report titled “The Irtysh River Basin: Transboundary Challenges and Practical Solutions” presents the results of diagnostics and forecasts regarding the state of water resources in the basin, outlines the positions of the three countries, and proposes practical solutions, including investment measures. The key recommendations focus on strengthening bilateral cooperation, developing soft infrastructure, and creating a multimodal transport corridor connecting Russia, Kazakhstan and China
