Round table of the Eurasian Development Bank "Promoting sustainable development in Central Asia"
On 16 November 2023, the Eurasian Development Bank will host a roundtable discussion entitled “Promoting Sustainable Development in Central Asia” in Almaty.
The event will provide a platform for international organisations and financial institutions to exchange their best practices, expertise and ideas in key focus areas, such as the water and energy complex of Central Asia and the efforts of international financial institutions to enhance the environmental and social well-being in the region.
The roundtable agenda includes the following sessions:
✅ 10:00 – 11:30: Irrigation and Water Resources in Central Asia;
✅ 12:00 – 13:00: Environmental and Social Standards of IFIs;
✅ 14:00 – 16:00: Practical Examples of Cooperation between Multilateral Organisations and International Financial Institutions in the Implementation of Projects in Central Asia.
We extend invitations to the heads and representatives of various regional and country offices, including but not limited to the United Nations Development Programme, the Food and Agriculture Organisation, the United Nations Environment Programme, the United Nations Industrial Development Organisation, the Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (Subregional Office for North and Central Asia), The World Bank, the IFC, the Asian Development Bank (ADB), the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank, the Islamic Development Bank (IsDB), the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, the New Development Bank, and other relevant institutions.
